What you will learn
Field skills that matter
- Explain HFC signal and power flow from headend/node through hardline cascades to the tap
- Read plant design maps (actives, EOL, tap values, power) and reconcile field work to PDF prints
- Prep, core, splice, and cut out hardline to craftsmanship standards using size-matched tools
- Install and verify taps, splitters, couplers, and power-passing passives
- Replace and align AOI line extenders, mini bridgers, and boosters for forward and return
- Execute high-split field changes: diplexers, wider-band actives, ingress discipline
- Test with SLM/OneExpert workflows and troubleshoot coax vs node/fiber boundary faults
- Apply fiber/node literacy (optical levels, connectors, when to escalate to fiber crews)
